Who let the cats & dogs out?

Most of the pet-related problems can be resolved if some pet owners would be conscientious in controlling their pets and eliminate the need for the association to address this as an issue.

We have received a great number of complaint calls have to do with pets in some way or another. Either they are noisy, off-leash or nasty. Pet owners are not picking up their dog’s feces. Pet owners are letting their cats roam the community, going onto neighbor’s property and allowing their cats to breed indiscriminately.

Before it causes feuds to break out among otherwise reasonable people, sort of a “pistols at dawn” kind of thing, let’s exercise a bit of common sense.

Here's a suggestion. How about trying the four “K's”?

                                           K-eep your cats indoors.
K-eep your dogs on a leash.
K-eep pets reasonably quiet so they don't disturb your neighbors.                                                 K-lean up after your pets. (OK…so we cheated a little on that last “K”)

 Thank you,

Board of Directors                and Most of all,                 Your Neighbors

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE VIOLATIONS REVIEW PANEL

We need members to be in a pool of names to be called upon to serve on our panel which meets once a quarter on a Sunday for two or three hours.  Impartial members are need to listen to the violation appeals and make determinations.  Please call the office at 894-2941 or stop by to sign-up.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE YOUR HOUSE NUMBERS POSTED ON YOUR HOUSE SO THAT IT IS VISIBLE FROM THE ROAD, OR HAVE YOUR HOUSE NUMBERS ON A POST CLOSE TO THE ROAD (ON YOUR PROPERTY, NOT COMMUNITY PROPERTY, PLEASE) IF YOUR HOUSE IS FURTHER BACK FROM THE ROAD. EMERGENCY VEHICLES, SUCH AS FIRE, POLICE, ETC. NEED THIS
INFORMATION.  IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE.

WHERE ARE YOUR GATE  CARDS?????????????????????????

Please take an inventory of your gate cards, can you account for all of them?  If not, please, come to the office and cancel any missing or lost gate cards.  Clearwood gate cards have been sold at the High School and Middle School (the going rate $50.00).

If you own a new home, did the contract or his subs turn back all the cards?  If you just bought a home , did the former owner or contractor return all gate cards?  Please check with your children to see if they have given their cards out.  Did you leave your card at the store and forgot about it?

REMEMBER YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE IN CLEARWOOD, IF SOMEONE ENTERS USING ONE OF YOUR CARDS.

WATER CONSERVATION

We will be conserving water using a Watering Schedule.  Please observe the schedule found in your newsletter coming out in July.  Water only when necessary.

A resolution was adopted by the membership this August concerning
water conservation.  Due to the shortage of rainfall, the community must
establish a firm basis to encourage conservation starting with the implementation
of "steps" in usage rates.  The current flat rate for all consumption is $1.00 per 100
cubic feet.  The first step rate will start at 7,000 cubic feet per household.  From 7,001 to 10,000 cubic feet will be at a rate of $1.25 per 100 cu ft .  Anything above that will be at $2.00 per 100 cu ft.
The average amount of consumption is usually below 7,000 cubic feet.

     NO SHOOTING

Clearwood is a designated fire arms control area. Use and discharging of fire arms or
bows and arrows within Clearwood is strictly prohibited by Thurston County ordinance (a copy is on file in CCA office).

Besides the county penalties, Clearwood's fine is          $100.00

If you encounter a large fire (larger than 4'x4'x3'), please contact OLYMPIC AIR POLLUTION CONTROL AUTHORITY at 360-586-1044

and report the situation.  They will either respond immediately or issue a citation against the alleged offending party.

In the continuing intent of making members and properties safer, we have applied to become a Firewise.org approved community with the Department of Natural Resources. This is an ongoing program and requires the involvement of all members to do their part in reducing local fire risk by eliminating fire fuel on their property (e.g. brush, fallen limbs, etc.) and around their homes.  Watch for periodic updates.  Some of the more useful suggestions are:  Clean and screen the chimney and stove pipe.  Remove overhanging tree limbs, moss and needles from the roof and gutters.  Maintain a survivable space around the house.  A large green lawn is ideal. Remove highly-flammable plants from around the house, especially on the side most exposed to prevailing winds and on the downhill slope.  Keep storage areas clean and tidy.  Never allow rags or newspapers to accumulate.  Store flammable liquids in approved containers.  Stack firewood away from the house.

KEEP CLEARWOOD LOOKING BEAUTIFUL

In addition to keeping your home and lot free of messes, PLEASE take your garbage containers in after pickup.  Several members are leaving them out all week or thrown against the front of the garage.  Out lots are small and homes take up most of their area, therefore, anything left laying around is especially distracting and violates the Protective Covenants.

SATELLITE DISHES

All satellite dishes must have a permit before installing.  This permit can be obtained at the office and there is no cost to you.  These dishes cannot be put on community property.

   MOTORIZED SCOOTERS

According to the Rules and Regulations of Clearwood, found in paragraph E of J. Vehicle and Traffic Regulations:

"Operation of non-licensed motor vehicles, except wheel-chairs, is prohibited within Clearwood"

We cannot afford to have little people, especially, running over our roads in go-carts, hot bikes, scooters and other non-licensed things.  There is a $50 fine after the 1st warning.

Please make your children and guests aware of this so that a violation will not be placed against them.  Thank you.

Please be careful of the children.

PERMITS
Whether it's brush clearing or adding a fence, building a retaining wall or putting in a storage shed, it is necessary
to apply for a permit from the ACC prior to being work.  By applying for a permit you avoid running astray
or the Rules and Covenants established for Clearwood, which can result in some hefty fines.  To get started,
stop by the Clearwood office and the staff there will be happy to provide you with the necessary forms.
